Leon D. Kessinger, age 88, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (July 25, 2016) at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Unit in Louisville, KY.
He was born on April 6, 1928, in Snap, KY, the son of the late Clarence and Pearl Williams Kessinger.
He retired from Philip Morris where he worked as a machinist for 30 years and was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the Wilhelm Masonic Lodge # 720.
He is survived by his wife, Linda C. Griffin Kessinger of Leitchfield; four sons, Walter, Wayne and Larry Kessinger, all of Greenville, IN and Gary Kessinger of Atlanta, GA; two step-daughters, Debbie Kiper of Breckinridge County, KY, and Vicky Sanford of Clarksville, TN; three sisters, Wanda Powell, Lillian Wilkinson, and Brenda Matall all of Louisville, KY, four brothers, Alfred Kessinger, of Louisville, KY, Thomas Kessinger of Irvington, KY, Tressie Kessinger of Clarkson, KY and Jimmy Kessinger of Corydon, IN, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Joyce Kessinger; one brother, DeLancey Kessinger; and three sisters, Hazel Constant, Virginia Constant and Betty Maus.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (July 28, 2016) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Hank Gibson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
