Obituary
Leona Powell Carby, age 85, of Clarkson, KY, passed away Saturday, (August 27, 2016) at her home.
She was born on November 27, 1930 in Grayson County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Jess and Cora Smith Powell.
She was a housewife and a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church who enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Gordon Carby of Louisville, KY and Pat Carby (Regina) of Leitchfield, KY; two daughters, Arlene Bell of Clarkson and Janese Cleary (Don) of Clarksville, TN; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special caregiver, Marti Smallwood.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wavely Carby; a daughter, Rosena Palas; and 11 brothers and sisters
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, (August 31, 2016) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Verlis Logsdon will be officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Oak Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
