Leslie "Les" Blanton, age 73, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (December 11, 2007) at his home.

He was born on April 24, 1934 in Edmonsson County KY, the son of Luther and Gertie Clubb Blanton. He was a retired saw operator at Tell City Chair, presently a greeter at Wal-Mart and was a member of the Leitchfield Masonic Lodge # 236 and the Leitchfield United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Harrell Ward Blanton, four sons, Ronnie Blanton (Debbie) of Rineyville, KY, Donnie Blanton of Leitchfield, Kenny Ward (Marla) of Tullahoma, TN and David Ward (Andrea) of Bowling Green, KY, one daughter, Diana Childress (Floyd) of Big Clifty, KY, four grandchildren, Ally and Emma Ward and Jeffrey and Cody Blanton, three brothers, Lonard and Charlie Blanton both of Murray, KY and Billy Blanton of Evansville, IN, four sisters, Alpha Helson, Doris Duncan and Elaine Fox all Murray and Martha Geary of Leitchfield. He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Blanton, two sisters, Edith House and Willadean Blanton and one brother, Leland Blanton.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (December 15, 2007) at the Leitchfield United Methodist Church, under the direction of the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bros. Musial Pearson and Fred Whitmore will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens. There will be a Masonic service on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
