Linda Corrine Griffin McWhorter Kessinger, age 86, of Leitchfield, passed away Sunday, (June 23, 2024) in Leitchfield.
She was born on September 30, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, Rockcastle County, KY, the daughter of the late Claude and Bertha Franklin Griffin, Sr.
She retired from Campbell Hausfeld working as a line operator for 25 years. She graduated from Brodhead High School in 1956. Linda enjoyed growing and attending to her flowers, and she loved mowing her grass. She also enjoyed going to the casino and going out to eat. Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was married to her late, first husband, Elmer McWhorter, for 14 years before his death. On April 7, 1972 she married Leon Kessinger, and they were married until his death in 2016. She was a member of White Mills Christian Church and had attended Rock Creek Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Lynn Sanford and Deborah Renee Kiper (Charlie); stepsons, Walter, Wayne, Larry, and Gary Kessinger; two grandchildren, Shellie Webb (Joey) and David Kiper; six great-grandchildren, Tucker Webb, Sheridan, Whitney, and Kyra Henning, James Kiper, and Talon Webb.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Elmer McWhorter and Leon Kessinger; 8 sisters, Edna Maue, Nan Trunnell, Dot Tackette, Anna Stevenson, Ruth Miller, Julia Marker, Georgene Day and Martha Knight; and 5 brothers, Arthur, Monroe, George W, John and Claude Griffin.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (June 29, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Hank Gibson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabethtown Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
