Obituary

Lois Ann Phelps, age 84, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (January 21, 2026) at home surrounded by family.

She was born on May 06, 1941 in High Plains, KY, the daughter of the late Charles and Eva Board Lucas.

She was a retired Walmart cashier who enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, caretaking and spending time with her sisters. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and attended Potter’s Hope.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter Wayne Phelps of Leitchfield, KY, two daughters, Cindy Stevens (Billy) of Leitchfield and Beverly Webb (Jason) of Nashville, TN; a son, Tim Phelps (Brenda) also of Leitchfield; six grandchildren, Bethany Critchelow, Aaron Critchelow (Nancy), Kevin Phelps (Melissa), Megan Peffer (Aaron), Matthew Webb (Vittoria) and Rachel Hartnell (Zach); 7 great-grandchildren, Xander, Kynli, Ephram, Imani, Declan, Ever, and Asa (with two more babies on the way); one brother, Charles Lucas Jr. (Janice) of Big Springs, KY; two sisters, Frances Foster of Louisville, KY, and Mona Gross of Hardinsburg, KY; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Lucas of High Plains, KY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Phelps; six brothers, Harold, Julius, Lee, Chuck, Kenny and Jackie Lucas; and three sisters, Louise Milburn, Rawanda Haynes and Corabelle Curtsinger.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, (January 29, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Wayne Clemons will be officiating. Burial will be in the Shrewsbury Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
