Mabel E. Hayes, age 78, of Leitchfield, KY, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, (August 2, 2016) at her residence in Leitchfield.

She was born on March 22, 1938, in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Obie, Sr. and Gertie Mae Brooks Woosley.

She was a home-maker, who enjoyed gardening, canning and going to church. She was a devoted and faithful Christian, and was always helping others. She married the love of her life, Rev. Herman Hayes on April 17, 1953. She was a member of the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, David Hayes and wife, Beverly, of Clarkson, Ronnie Hayes and wife, Sandy, of Leitchfield, Janice Cole of Leitchfield, and KD Hayes of Louisville; three grandchildren, Brad (Erica), Heather (Cody), and Amanda (Joe); two brothers, Eugene Woosley (Barbara) of Louisville, and Obie Woosley, Jr. (Beverly) of Caneyville.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Herman Hayes, brother, Earl Woosley, and granddaughter, Lindsey Hayes.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (August 6, 2016) at the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church in Leitchfield. Bro. Cecil Williams and Bro. Charles Larry Bell will be officiating. Burial will be in the Claggett Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and at the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
