Marcia R. Shartzer, age 57 of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (November 21, 2014) at her residence.
She was born on August 26, 1957 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of Kent and Libby Renfrow Rose.
She was employed at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for 36 years as Director of Health Information and later as Director of Coding. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in August 1978 with an Associate Degree of Science and later achieved her certification as a RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) in September 1979. She became qualified as a Certified Coding Specialist through AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) in 2006. Marcia was a member of the Western Kentucky University HIM (Health Information Management) Program Advisory Committee; RVHIMA (River Valley Health Information Management Association) and was a member of the Little Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bro. Howard Shartzer, three step-sons, Lathan Decker and Ethan Shartzer both of Elizabethtown KY and Ryan Shartzer of Leitchfield, a step-daughter, Brianna Shartzer of Louisville, KY, her parents, Kent and Libby Rose of Bowling Green KY, a brother, Barry Rose of Chattanooga, TN and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brandy.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (November 24, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. William Dodson and Bro. Doug Edwards will be officiating. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
