Marie L. Kiper Nelson, age 69, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (June 11, 2026) at her home.

She was born on December 28, 1956 in Leitchfield, KY, the daughter of the late George and Mary Poole Kiper.

She was a seamstress who enjoyed planting flowers, playing games, watching soap operas and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Maria McGhee Probus of Leitchfield; two grandchildren, Dustin Tyler Howell (Kelsey) and Savannah Marie Probus; one great-grandchild, Anakin Howell; two step great-grandchildren, Mason & Jamie Howell; a brother, Frankie Kiper (Susie); two sisters, Ruby Miller (Clayton) & Mary Nell Higdon (Ricky); a close family friend, Jocie Chambers; and her former husband, Steve Nelson, with whom she remained close. Several nieces and nephews, as well as her two beloved cats, Sneezybaby and Huggels, also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie McGhee; two nephews, Charles K. Kiper and Mark Kiper and two brothers, Bruce & Allen Kiper.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, (June 17, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Adam Decker will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Dermitt Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
