Marvin Earl Hester, age 78, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (January 14, 2017) at Grayson Manor in Leitchfield.

He was born on December 19, 1938, in Grayson Co., KY, the son of the late Thomas and Pansy Marie Carter Hester.

He was self-employed, who enjoyed woodworking and showing his tractor and was a member of New Freedom Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Magalene Salsman Hester; two sons, Danny Hester (Quniece) and Steve Hester (Lesia) both of Leitchfield; one daughter, Kimberly Sowders (Chris) of Leitchfield; three grandchildren, April and Thomas Hester and Logan Sowders; two great-grandchildren, Amber Young and Shelby Hester; three step-grandchildren, Paige Burden and Megan and Tyler Upton; two brothers, James "Jim" Hester, of Leitchfield, and Charles Hester of Shepherdsville; four sisters, Carolyn Sue Stegall of Elizabethtown, Marilyn Hudson of Caneyville, Betty Jo Meredith and Rebecca Hayse both of Leitchfield.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Hester, and two brothers, Howard and William Hester.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, (January 17, 2017) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Mickey Coates, Bro. Edward Cockriel and Bro. Buddy Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
