Mary Kathryn Edwards, age 101, of Falls of Rough, KY, passed away Sunday, (April 6, 2025) in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on March 17, 1924 in Falls of Rough, KY, the daughter of the late Lennie Samuel and Golda Alice Wilkerson Allen.

She had worked various jobs outside the home with the last one being a seamstress at a garment factory. Her greatest reward was working in her home raising nine children. She enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening, canning, growing her flowers, embroidery, cross stitching, and crafts. She married her late husband, Jesse E. Edwards on August 23, 1940. They eloped together and got married in Leitchfield, and a huge family was a result of this union. They enjoyed their life together until his death in 1977. She was a life-long member of Lone Star Church of Christ.

She is survived by her children, Jimmy Edwards, David Edwards (Ann), Carol Swift, Charles Edwards (Pauline), Beverly Weedman (Jerry), Peggy Jo Cummings (Dennie), Becky Grant (Pat), and Tammy Simpson (Jeff);  grandchildren, Penny Reece, Donna VanMeter, Mike, Allen, and Steve Edwards, Susan Fessel, Danny Swift, Kim Parm, Missy Carnes, Robin Richardson, Brent Weedman, Jessica Guffey, Christy Dowell, Jamie and Jason Cummings, Courtney, Brian, and Braden Grant, Dillon and Brooke Simpson; 29 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse E. Edwards; her son, Ricky Edwards; grandson, Dwayne Swift; great-grandsons, Logan Reece, and Blake Allen Richardson; great-great-grandson, Beckett VanMeter; sisters, Dorothy Probus and Bernice Davis; daughter-in-law, Anna Edwards; and son-in-law, Jimmie Swift.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, (April 9, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Reed Young will be officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
