Obituary
Maurice Gene Schimmels, age 68, of Big Clifty, KY, passed away Tuesday, (December 28, 2010) in Louisville, KY.
He was born on June 17, 1942, in Coldwell, Idaho, the son of the late Myrle and Opal Martin Schimmels. He was an Army Veteran, retired pipe fitter for Reynolds-Alcoa Aluminum Company and a member of the St Anthony Catholic Church in Peonia.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Berda Jane (Janie) Schimmels of Big Clifty, one daughter, Patrice Borders (Barry) of Elizabethtown, KY, two sons, Neal Schimmels (Celeste) of Frankfort, KY and Glen Schimmels (Katie) of Independence, KY., one sister, Linda Jane Dowers of Idaho, two step-sisters, Linda Lee Darrah and Barbara Scripture both of Idaho, three grandchildren, Jared Schimmels, Britt and Braden Borders and one new born baby girl, Ella Hayes. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Doyle Myrle Schimmels.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. C.S.T. Monday (January 3, 2011) at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Peonia, KY., Father Brian Johnson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield after 2:00 p.m. C.S.T. Sunday (January 2, 2011)
Prayer service will be at 5:00 p.m. C.S.T. Sunday night at the Funeral Home.
