Mikel Ray Decker, age 60, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Thursday, (December 26, 2019) at University of Louisville Hospital.
He was born on March 13, 1959, the son of the late Denvard Decker and Anna Louise Hockenbury Decker.
He was a truck driver who was a jack of all trades but his passion lie in music—primarily playing guitar, singing, and songwriting. He was a man of faith who often shared his thoughts on Savior with anyone willing to listen.
He is survived by his wife, Wilda Dennison Decker, of Short Creek; two children Jeremy Decker of Caneyville and Jamie Nelms (Jerrod) of Lakeland, Florida; and three stepchildren Brandon (Lynn) Polston, Perry Polston, and Rachel Polston, all of Short Creek. He is the grandfather to eleven grandchildren- Audrey, Jesse, Lucy, Andrew, Emma, Harlan, Jackson, Zoe, Madison, Abigail, and Kyle. He leaves behind his siblings Stephen (Mary Anne) Decker, Joey (Lorma) Decker, Lorie (Danny) Holderman, Jeff (Tina) Decker, and Terry (Cindy) Decker and his mother, Mary Embry Decker, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Reverend Denvard Ray Decker and his mother, Anna Louise Hockenbury Decker.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, (December 30, 2019) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Blowtown Cemetery adjacent to the Blowtown House of Prayer.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. on Monday until time of services.
