Mildred A. Gibson, age 89, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (December 07, 2023) at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.

She was born on November 17, 1934 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late L.L. and Craton Cherry Hodges.

She was a line worker at American Tobacco Company who also worked on the family farm and, after her retirement, sat with the elderly as a caretaker. She enjoyed all forms of yardwork, whether it be mowing the yard, planting flowers, or gardening; spending time with her family and talking with friends old and new.She was a member and former Sunday School Teacher of the  First General Baptist Church and loved participating in church activities.

She is survived by her sons, Danny Gibson of Leitchfield, KY and Garry Gibson of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Tracy Townsend (Jesse) and Christopher Gibson; three great-grandchildren, Allie Horton, Michael Horton & Layla Lacefield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara Gibson; a son, Ronnie Neal Gibson; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (December 17, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Garry Watkins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Claggett Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
