Minnie Irene Smith, age 81, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Sunday, (September 14, 2008) at her home in Leitchfield.
She was born on February 24, 1927, in Scottsville, KY the daughter of Herman Elton and Mollie Scott Helson. She was a retired Civil Service worker.
She is survived by two sons, Elmer Ray Smith and special friend, Winnie Gibson of Clarkson, KY and William Eric Smith (Lisa Ann) of Leitchfield, four daughters, Helen Irene Payton (Dale) of Leitchfield, Jessie V. Haycraft (Lee Roy) of Big Clifty, JoAnn Martin (John) and Barbara Sue Smith and her special friend, Joe Mattingly of Louisville, KY, three brothers, James Helson of Murray, Ronnie Helson of Canton, OH, Larry Helson Leitchfield, four sisters, Delores Ferguson of Leitchfield, Nora Huber of Elizabethtown, Marcella Downs of Anneta and Margie Stevenson of Clarkson, 9 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
Her husband, Elmer William Smith and one brother, Harold Helson, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (September 17, 2008) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Nathan Lowe will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday
