Mitchell Keith Lucas, age 36, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

He was born on September 4, 1990, in Leitchfield, KY, the son of Keith Lucas and Joy McGrew Lucas.

To know Mitchell was to know someone who loved his family fiercely. A caregiver by nature, he was always there for those who needed him-whether it was an animal needing a home, an elder needing support, or a baby needing unconditional love.

Family to him was not defined by blood or circumstance. When he took you in, you were his. He welcomed people with an open heart, loved them unconditionally, and remained fiercely loyal to those he cared about. His kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his parents, Keith Lucas and Joy McGrew Lucas; his daughter, Emma Lucas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Terri Lucas and Sean Singleton, and Larrya and Tim Winchell, along with the nieces and nephews he adored: Audrey Winchell and Everly Winchell, and Joy, Arthur, and Oliver, Singleton, as well as his grandmother, Dorris McGrew. He also leaves behind those that he loved as his own, Joshua Mattingly, Hayden Powell, Josie Gordon and Zoey Powell.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe McGrew, Ralph and Eula Lucas; one uncle, Jim Lucas; and his cousin, Angela Waterman.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 6, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Dermitt Funeral Home with Dale DePoyster officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
