Nicholas Wood Cockriel age 51, of Leitchfield, passed away Monday, (June 29, 2009) at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

He was born on July 26, 1957, in Grayson County, the son of Coy Cockriel and Annell Carroll Saltsman. He was a bus driver for the Grayson County School System and attended New Freedom Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Darlene Cockriel, two daughters, Kristen Mercer (Tim), and Amberly Gaither (Michael), his step father and mother Arnett and Annell Saltsman, two brothers, Terrel Saltsman and Ronnie Cockriel, four sisters, LaNean Saltsman, Lynette VanMeter(Neil), Rita Strickland, Charlotte Kerr (Harlan), one granddaughter Haylee Grace Gaither, and several nieces and nephews all of Leitchfield. He was preceded in death by his father Coy Cockriel, his grandmother Monrovia Carroll, his grandfather Walton Carroll, and his grandparents Chester and Hallie Cockriel.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00p.m. (July 3, 2009) at the New Freedom Church in Leitchfield. Bro. Ed Cockriel and Bro. Neil Carnes will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sadler (New Hope General Baptist Church) Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, and from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30p.m. Friday, with the services to follow at the church.
