Issac "Ova" Van Meter, age 87, of Clarkson, KY, passed away Friday, (May 1, 2009) at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.
He was born on April 3 1922, in Grayson Co. KY, the son of Lillie (McGrew) and Jesse Van Meter. He was an animal caretaker for the Pathology Division of the US Army Medical Research Lab, an Army Veteran of World War 2 and was a trustee and member of the Antioch General Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dovie (Love) Van Meter, four sons, Duel (Joyce), Bobby, and Danny (Trish) all of Clarkson and Greg (Genna) of Elizabethtown, two daughters, Belinda (Jim) McKinley of Clarkson, and Shelia (Bill) Page of Elizabethtown, seventeen grandchildren, Troy, Derek, Joey, Wendy, Michael, Jamie, Sarah, Rachel, Leah, Benjamin, Joshua, Jacob Issac, Hannah, Tabitha, Seth, Mahli`Ruth, and Bethany, nine great grandchildren, Donovan, Trinity, Morgan, Olivia, Brittany, Ariel, Emelia, Shanna, and Braxton. He was preceded in death by one son Larry, whose wife, Betty, survives, and one grandson Chris Van Meter, one brother, Stanley Van Meter and one sister, Norene Pierce.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (May 3, 2009) at the Antioch General Baptist Church. Bro. Gary Embry will be officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
