Oval Barnnett Smith, Jr., age 75 , of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (November 14, 2022) in Louisville, KY.

He was born on March 21, 1947 in Millwood, KY, the son of the late Oval B. Smith, Sr. and Jerlean Lacefield Smith.

He retired from working over 20 years at Sears, owned a vacuum shop and was a painter. He was a hardworking man and loved working with his hands. He was a handyman, bowled on different blowing leagues in Leitchfield and was an avid U of L basketball and football fan.  He attended Leitchfield Church of God of Prophecy.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Beverly Parks Smith of Leitchfield; his children, John B. Smith of Grayson County, James Oval Smith of Leitchfield and Beverly K. Rackley (Shane) of Caneyville; his step-children, Chris Embry (Baillie) of Caneyville, Taeh Decker (Carey) of Caneyville and Candace Noelle Winchell of Leitchfield; his special grandson, Lane Rackley, and grandchildren, Lily Embry, Ella Ann Duggins, Kayla Webb, Ashley Franklin, Ethan Embry, Emily Embry, Ayden Embry, Landen Embry, Owen Embry, Annie Decker, Isaac Mudd, Ava Rose Mudd and Paige Winchell;  his god-daughters, Misty Clark and Tammy Foreman; siblings, David Smith of Morgantown, Roy Smith of Leitchfield, Carolyn Entrekin of Willowee, Alabama, Charles Smith of Millwood and Reaunetta Hatcher of Bowling Green. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Mary J. Smith; step-daughter, ShyAnne Embry; brother, Alfred Smith and sister, Lois Ann Higgs.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, (November 18, 2022) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Roy Smith will be officiating. Burial will be in the Welches Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
