Phyllis Gay Brooks, age 74, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (July 13, 2017) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

She was born on Sunday, March 28, 1943 in Caneyville, KY, the youngest of six children born to the late Harlan and Eva Majors Smith.

She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and later attended New Harvest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bro. Alton Brooks, and two brothers, Kermit Smith and Lawson Smith.

Phyllis was a very sweet and kind person, always wanting to help and encourage others. She was lovingly known as "Tilly" to her siblings, and nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by three sisters, Mary Sturgeon, Jane Lucas and husband, Arvil, and Dorothy Carter and husband Hubert; sister-in-law, Mattie Smith; nieces and nephews, Becky Clampitt and Bill, Tim Lucas and Kim, Barry Lucas and Becky, Keith Lucas and Nancye, Diane Carter, Joyce Duffy and Greg; great nieces and nephews, Joshua Clampitt, Julie Clampitt, Carla Lucas, Noah Lucas, Caleb Lucas, Abi Lucas, Olivia Lucas, Elizabeth Lucas, and Eli Lucas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, (July 17, 2017) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Tim Lucas and Bro. Jeremy Atwood will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 pm.
(noon) to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, and from 9:00 a.m. on Monday until time of services.

Eastern Star services will be held on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m.
