Phyllis Ann Gibson, 71 of Leitchfield, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 22, 2026.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul…” Psalm 23

Born on January 24, 1955, in Pineville, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of Hargis Gibson and Dorothy Knuckles.

Phyllis was a woman of strong faith who deeply loved her family and cherished her friendships. She found joy in life’s simple blessings-listening to music, planting flowers, and spending meaningful time surrounded by those she loved most.

She is survived by her children: Randy Pennington (Kim Pennington) of Leitchfield, Angela Portman of Clarkson, and Jesse Pennington (Kacey Pennington) of Leitchfield. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Nate Pennington, Abigail Pennington, Audree Pennington, Reese Pennington, Gracie Portman, and Garrett Portman.

Phyllis is also survived by her siblings, Linda Haag, Lora Spears, Lisa Hohler, Joy Imbrescia, and Jeremy Gibson, as well as many nephews and nieces who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hargis Gibson; her mother, Dorothy Knuckles; and her stepfather, Jim Spears.

She will be remembered for her strength, her unwavering faith, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life Ceremony to be held at a later date.
