R. Edward Cockriel, Age 83, of Leitchfield KY passed away Wednesday, (December 11, 2024) at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 7, 1941 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late Roy and Bessie Hayes Cockriel.

He was called to preach by God and has been preaching most of his life. He was a God fearing man. He loved to preach and tell everyone about God. He was a pastor at Welch's Creek. He was a man who never met a stranger and always made those around him feel welcome. He was always the first to tell everyone how much he loved them, but never forgot to add "But God loves you more." He ran a life long dozer business with his son, Clifton, "Ed Cockriel and Son Dozer Service".

He is survived by his amazing wife of 65 years that he loved with all of his heart, Martina Louise Cockriel; his three children, Darlene Cockriel, Janice Neff-Cockriel, Clifton Cockriel (Melissa), twelve grandchildren; Tiffany, C.E., Zeb (Macy), Paul (Leann), Trevor (Adri), Bobbi, Tyler (Darrian), Colton (Allie), Kelsey (Brenton), twenty great-grandchildren; Olivia (Zeb) Addy, Timberlynn, Luke, Paris, Easton, Zander, Hadlee, Brantley, Rowan, Ella, Beckham, Ryleigh, Aven, Abram, Benny, Elijah, Logan, Lennox, Paisyn.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rickey Cockriel, one brother, Thomas Cockriel (Donna), five sisters, Lizziemae (Luke), Donia (Herbert), Deanie (Cecile), Shirley (Richard) and Frankie. And 3 grandsons; Lucas Dillon, Jordan, and Josh Higdon

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (December 17, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Neil Carnes and Bro. Wayne Clemons will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
