Obituary
Ralph Mizell Westmoreland, age 85, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (December 30, 2014) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on January 11, 1929, in Manchester, GA, the son of the late Emmet Dewitt and Rebecca Bell Swafford Westmoreland.
He taught as a band director for 16 years at Fairdale High School, taught history and civics at Iroquois Middle School, and was a choir director for numerous churches, including Fairdale Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Holly Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Clements Westmoreland of Leitchfield; two sons, Robert Ralph Westmoreland of Seattle, WA, and John Douglas Westmoreland of St. Louis, MO.; and granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Peckinpaugh of Louisville.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Westmoreland.
Cremation was chosen.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday (January 1, 2015) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (CDT) at the Dermitt Funeral Home.
