Raymond "R.L." Swift , age 84, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Wednesday (March 17, 2010) at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
He was a World War II veteran who saw combat action in five foreign countries. He formerly ran Swift's Grocery on Hwy. 79 in Caneyville.
He was born on March 25,1925, in Muhlenberg Co., the son of the late Marvin and Fannie Swift.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Martha; one brother Buster Swift formerly of Caneyville.
He is survived by two daughters, Judie Farris of Ready and Freda Lindsey of Caneyville, two sisters, Marcella Cummings of Caneyville and Gaynell Taylor of Caneyville, five grandchildren; Christie Vanmeter of Smith Grove, Walter Timothy Farris, Ashley Lindsey and Jennifer Parks of Caneyville and Sgt. Raymond E. Smith of Hawaii, and six great-grand children also survive.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (March 21, 2010) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro. Wavie Pierce will be officiating. Burial will be in the Rabbit Flat Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville from 10:00 a.m. Sunday, until time of services.
