Obituary
Rebecca Embry Shain, age 86, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (March 7, 2016) at Norton Pavilion in Louisville, KY.
She was born on January 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Ralph and Lora Embry.
She was a legal secretary to Thomas H. and Allan P. Cubbage, secretary to Oren P. Lawler superintendent of schools, secretary to Walter T. Kelley, and retired from the state as secretary at Social Services. She loved her flowers and her politics. She was an active member of the Mill Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son, Kenny (Super) Shain, one daughter, Karen Alvey and her husband, Jim; one granddaughter, Terri Haycraft and her husband, Dennis; and two precious great-grandchildren, Grant and Grace Haycraft, all of Leitchfield; and a brother, Jeffery Embry of Maryland.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Tommy Joe Shain, two brothers, Steve Embry of Russellville, and W.T. (Bill) Embry (Hazel) of Leitchfield.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, (March 10, 2016) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Michael Hardin will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
