Reetha Mae (Quiggins) Fentress, age 96, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, at Our Family Home in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was born on October 6, 1920, in Hudson, Kentucky, the daughter of Tice and Minnie Blair Quiggins.
Reetha was a faithful wife to her late husband, Lewis Fentress. They married on her 14th birthday and enjoyed 64 years of marriage before his passing. After the death of her husband, she made her home in Cincinnati, Ohio, near her son and his family.
Reetha was a member of Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over fifty years and an active member of the Leitchfield Homemakers Club. After moving to Cincinnati, she was able to keep up with all the happenings in Leitchfield through her weekly phone conversations with her niece, Anna Edwards.
She enjoyed talking to people and never met a stranger. The most important things in Reetha's life were her faith and her family. She read the Bible regularly, including reading through the New Testament repeatedly even into her nineties.
Reetha was also a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her son, Louis "J.L." Fentress, Jr. (Jo Doris); granddaughters, Nancy Beth Haney (Jeff) and Sara Howard; great-grandchildren, Collin Louis Howard, Cooper Haney, Eliza Mae Haney, and Noah Haney; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday (June 15th) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with burial to follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (June 14th) and from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, prior to the service.
