Obituary

Rev. James Norman Kerr, age 89, of Brownsville, KY, passed away Wednesday, (March 18, 2026) at Grayson Nursing and Rehab in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on August 22, 1936 in Sunfish, KY, the son of the late Edmond Chandos and Dexie Bell Davis Kerr.

He was a farmer and a devoted man of God who ministered for over 60 years. He loved talking to people and visiting the sick. His ministry was very important to him. He grew beautiful ones of different varieties and colors. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 355. His fellow lodge members will be holding a Masonic Service on Saturday evening. Rev. Kerr was saved at an early age and was a member of Sunny Point General Baptist Church for over 75 years.

He is survived by his sister, Beatrice Stewart of Brownsville and his brother, David Kerr and wife, Jeanette, of Mt. Washington; and nieces and nephews, Nicklas Heavrin, Cassie Peay, Christopher Stewart, Tommy Stewart, Magan Stewart, Sandy Arntz, Susan Sweeney, and Ronnie Kerr.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Randall and Edmond Kerr, his nieces and nephews, Melissa Stinson, Sharon Stewart, Darrell Kerr and Bruce Kerr; and his brother-in-law, Harvey Stewart.
