Obituary

Rex Saltsman, age 81, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (March 15, 2014) at his home.

He was born on February 3, 1933 in Grayson Co., KY, the son of the late Claude and Oleva Meredith Saltsman.

He was a combat wounded veteran of the Korean War having received a Purple Heart; He was a heavy equipment operator who enjoyed fishing, collecting guns and knives and loved John Deere Tractors; He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 181, the Leitchfield American Legion Post 81, the Leitchfield Masonic Lodge # 235 and the Purple Heart Organization.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Whobrey Saltsman, two sons, Mike Saltsman (Connie) of Wax KY and Ron Saltsman of Lexington KY, one granddaughter, Rebecca Jo Saltsman of Nicholasville KY, three brothers, John and Marcus Saltsman both of Louisville and Arnold Saltsman (Bonnie) of Taylorsville, KY, one sister, Peggy Stratton of Leitchfield and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold Rex Saltsman, three brothers, Warren, Thomas and Hovie Saltsman, three sisters, Lucille Saltsman, Mary Barnes and Lois Decker.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, (March 20, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Darrell Arndell will be officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Williams Cemetery. Masonic services will be Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
