Rheuelma Newton, age 79, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (May 27, 2014) at Springview Nursing and Rehab in Leitchfield.
She was born on March 7, 1935 in Grayson Co., KY, the daughter of the late Edward and Oma Decker Elmore.
She was a production worker at Vermont American, owner of Newton's Grocery at Millerstown KY, and was a member of the Antioch General Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren, who called her Mamaw Rhue.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Willoughby (Carlos) of Leitchfield, three step-children, Charles D. Newton Jr. (Mary) of Lawrenceburg, KY, Tim Newton of Bowling Green KY and Annette Madison (Lee) of Richardsville KY, three grandchildren, Garrett (Tiffany) Willoughby and Brianne Willoughby both of Clarkson, KY, and Alaina Willoughby of Leitchfield, two great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Karter Willoughby of Clarkson, four brothers, Norman Elmore (Marie), J D Elmore (Alfreda) and Howard Elmore (Pat) all of Leitchfield, and A D Elmore (Brenda) of Clarkson, a special caregiver, Patty Sanders of Elizabethtown, KY, and several nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Newton Sr., a step-son, Alfred Benjamin Newton, two brothers and two sisters, Lee and Jimmy Elmore, Maxine Minton and Iona Denmark.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, (May 29, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Damon Lasley Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
