Richard Wesley Hayes, age 72, of Cottontown, TN, formerly of Grayson County, KY, passed away Wednesday, (August 29, 2018) at his home in Tennessee.

He was born on August 1, 1946 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Curtis and Oleta Farris Hayes.

He was an electrician for CSX Railroad for 33 years. He loved working on old cars, hunting, and making repairs on various things. He married Juanita Fentress on February 24, 1967. He was a member of the Suburban Masonic Lodged # 740 of Louisville, KY. He was a member of Peniel Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. He also attended White House General Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Fentress Hayes of Cottontown, TN; his children, Steven W. Hayes (Josette) of Virginia, Selesia Case (Gary) of Whitehouse, TN, and Daniell Hayes of Pleasant View, TN; grandchildren, Oakley Sthole, Jesse Hayes, Richard, Jonathon, and Cameron Irvine, Steven and Baleigh Hayes, Dagan Johnson and Brandon and Emily Case; great-grandchildren, Beau Irvine, Coleson and Addison Case; brothers, Harold, Adrian and Mark Hayes, sisters, Ruth Martell and Susan Decker; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Lowell, Charles, and Chris Hayes.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (September 1, 2018) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Larry Treadway will be officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. noon to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
