Obituary

Ricky A. Harp was born December 4, 1955, the son of Estle and Ernestine Probus Harp. He was a very happy baby, smiling at everyone who would look at him.

Death came to him November 24, 2018 while he was in a peaceful sleep, with an apparent heart attack. We believe when Jesus came for him, his dad and sister, Cheryl were there at his entry into Heaven, and are still celebrating and having a good time rejoicing with him.

Ricky leaves behind his daughter, Miranda, whom he adored; her husband, Cody Brooks, and their children, Trystan and Talon Brooks; step-daughter, whom he loved as his own, Glenda Bertram, and her husband, Donavon, and their children, Brad and Cody.

Preceding him in death were his dad, Estle Harp, and his sister, Cheryl Clemons.

Other survivors are his mother, Ernestine Harp, sister, Janet Barrett (Steve), and brother, Martin Harp (Jan), of Frankfort; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and also many friends in Leitchfield and across the state, whom he loved very much.

Ricky grew up on a farm and loved the outdoor life, hunting and fishing. He was always rooting for the KY Wildcats basketball team, loved watching television, and many sports.

Ricky attended school at Short Creek, Caneyville and Doss High School in Louisville.

He began his Christian life in Stones View United Methodist Church, Hazelwood United Methodist Church, joining their choir; and then back to Leitchfield United Methodist Church. Ricky loved the Purple Flash Band, playing the trumpet. He had worked for the Ky Department of Transportation, but he was happy just to be at home, relaxing and watching television.

As we say "Farewell and we love you" he is being greeted by his grandparents, Roy and Amanda Harp, Thomas and Essie Probus, and a large family of uncles, aunts, and cousins from the Probus and Harp families and friends.

Funeral service will be held at the Leitchfield United Methodist Church, Sunday, at 2:00 p.m. December 2, 2018. Bro. Ric Holladay will be officiating, with burial in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. on Sunday until 12:30 p.m. Visitation will then follow from 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church until service time.
