Obituary

Robert L. (Big Bill) Skaggs, age 76, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (October 17, 2017) at his home.

He was born on August 4, 1941 in Grayson Springs, KY, the son of the late Charles and Angie Skaggs.

He was a former business owner and mechanic at a full service automobile center. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He was an assistant chief for the Leitchfield Volunteer Fire Department for forty years, a member of the Leitchfield Lions Club and youth coach for Little League for over twenty years. "Big Bill" was a magistrate for the Grayson County Fiscal Court for sixteen years. He graduated from Clarkson High School in 1959. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; Opal Johnson Skaggs, two sons, Greg (Lisa) and Gary (Tami) Skaggs; seven grandchildren; Robert (Susan), Lincoln, and Kyle Skaggs, Kelsie (Kyle) Hughes, Bennett, Wyatt, and Kenzie Skaggs; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Skaggs and Ace Hughes; and one sister, Sarah Metcalfe.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Lester, James, Edward, Russell, Stanley and Norman; and three sisters, Delta, Loretta and Marie.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, (October 20, 2017) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
