Robert Ray Decker, age 79, of Clarkson, KY, passed away Saturday, (September 30, 2023) at his home.

He was born on April 20, 1944 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late Oscar Sr. and Nelma Rae Newton Decker.

He retired from Escue Wood Preserving and enjoyed sight-seeing, staying busy, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the  Claggett United Baptist Church and attended Broadford Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Meredith Decker of Clarkson; a son, Mark Decker (Julie); a daughter, Lorri Whobrey (Mike), both of Clarkson;   a step-son,  Dean Allen (Janelle) of Leitchfield; a step-daughter, Stephanie Decker (James) of Clarkson; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five sisters Faye Sego, Ina Green (James), Jocie Chambers (Ernie), Diane Ward (Randy) and Charlene Downs (Barry); three brother-in-laws, Elroy Cook, Harlan McGrew & James Saltsman; and two sisters-in-law, Jennie Decker & Melissa Decker. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Decker; six brothers, Oscar Jr. Orin, Gilbert, Timmy, Harold and Ronnie Decker; and three sisters, Elaine Cook, Mary McGrew & Betty Saltsman.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, (October 09, 2023) at the Broadford Missionary Baptist Church. Bro. Mikey Clemons will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and will move to the Broadford Missionary Baptist Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
