Ron York

Ron York, age 76, of Leitchfield, KY passed away Monday, (August 31, 2026) surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 07, 1950 in Bee Spring, KY, and alongside his wife, Shayne, opened ABC Supply in 1975, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2009. Not content to just sit at home, he went on to work at Lowe’s for six and a half years, followed by two years at the Leitchfield Ace Hardware. Ron spent many, many summers coaching baseball for his namesake team, ABC Supply. He and Shayne loved antique cars, owning several, and enjoyed showing them in, and attending, area car shows - once winning a national award.

As a hobby, Ron collected license plates and owned one from every US state and nearly all the counties of Kentucky. When he wasn’t spending time with his family and grandchildren, he could be found playing guitar, singing at church, and even performing at the nursing homes for area residents. He and Shayne also raised German Shephard puppies for 25 years. A man of faith, Ron was a deacon, a trustee, Sunday school superintendent, a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader, and was very involved in the Live Nativity of two local churches.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years and one week, Shayne McKinney York of Leitchfield; a son, Chad York (Savannah) of Alvaton, KY; two grandsons Ethan (16) and Mason (11), both of Alvaton; a brother-in-law, Brian McKinney of Kingston, TN; and a sister-in-law, Lisa Nation of Knoxville. His beloved Yorkie, Harper, also survives.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (September 06, 2026) at the Church of Joy in Leitchfield. Bro. Nathan Lowe will be officiating, along with Bros. Chessie Shartzer, Wayne Clemons, and Buddy Brooks. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until 1:30 pm, at which time we will move to the church for services.
