Ronald Leon Coates passed away at his home in Leitchfield on November 17, 2025. Born on October 13, 1936 in Grayson County, KY to the late Lawrence Coates and Rosaline Gideon Coates, Ronald was dearly loved by his family and all who knew him. After retiring from Fawcett Printing Corporation in Louisville, he remained busy, always willing to help others with handyman projects.

Ronald was a devoted member of Stones View Church. He was a 56-year member of the Leitchfield Masonic Lodge #236. Spending time with family and friends was his most enjoyable activity especially on the creek for cookouts at Wildcat Hollow.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife Jean Wheatley Coates, two daughters Reinella Coates of Louisville, KY and Kathy Collins (Ricky) of Louisville, one stepson Larry Dechant of Flatwoods, KY, a twin brother Arnold Gene Coates, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was a very special uncle to many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by one son Michael Leon Coates of Florida, one daughter Cheryl Coates of Louisville, two grandsons Billy Young and Ricky Collins II, a granddaughter Misty Collins, two brothers Lawrence David Coates of Louisville, Arthur Norman Coates of Indiana, and one sister Dolores Harrell of Leitchfield.

A private memorial service is planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in remembrance of Ronald be made to Stones View Church, 60 Stones View Rd., Leitchfield, KY 42754.
