Roy Blaine Embry, age 98, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Tuesday, (January 3, 2017) at the Norton's Hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was born, the son of ten children, on August 31, 1918, in Tilford, KY, the son of the late Bertha and James Blaine Embry.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 78 years, Helen Givens Embry. They were business owners of Embry's General Store where his wife was postmistress; they had Texaco gas station and sold a variety of supplies besides groceries, including electrical and plumbing. Roy was also a saw miller and farmer.
He is survived by his loving children, Leon (Margo) of San Diego, CA, Patricia Finley (Harold) of Brandenburg KY and Leroy (Shan) of Leitchfield, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one sister, Jewel Bemis of Diamond Bar, CA and many nieces and nephews of his deceased brothers and sisters.
The family wants to thank their churches for prayers and support when they were not able to attend and also want to thank the Bee Hive and Staff.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, (January 7, 2017) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Wayne Clemons will be officiating. Burial will be in the Cain Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
