Roy Kenneth Mattingly Jr., age 61, of Leitchfield, passed away Monday, (September 08, 2025) at his home.

He was born on April 16, 1964 in Clarkson, KY, the son of Angelia Paulette Harris Gipson and the late Roy Kenneth Mattingly.

Roy was an incredibly hard working family man, working in the fields of welding, plumbing, carpentry and construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting guns, and was a member of the Christian faith and Grayson County Fish & Wildlife.

He is survived by his wife and significant other, Sue Griffin of Leitchfield; four sons, Jonathan Mattingly (Chelsi) of Irvington, KY, Jeremy Burden & Johnathan Burden, both of Leitchfield & Cory Thomason of West Point, KY; a daughter, Jennifer Maples (Keith Joiner) of Sunfish, KY; 13 grandchildren; his mother, Paulette Gipson of Falls of Rough, KY; a brother, Leonard Miller also of Falls of Rough; and a sister, Keneta Stevenson (Misty Fentress) of Leitchfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father Walter Gipson and his step-mother, Gerri Lush.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, (September 16, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Lonnie Meredith will be officiating. Burial will be in the Holly Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
