Roy Stewart, age 85, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (January 9, 2016) at his residence.
He was born on January 5, 1931 in Grayson Co., KY, the son of the late Cleo and Pearl Allison Stewart.
He was a barber of 57 years, a former Mason and a member of the South Union General Baptist Church who enjoyed farming, barbering and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Woosley (Dale) of Leitchfield; his son, Mitch Stewart (Wanda Miller) of Leitchfield; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Jean Green (Thurston) of Louisville, KY, Beatrice Lowe (Richie) of Alabama, Carolyn Woodcock (Kenneth) of Bee Spring, KY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Wanda Stewart, two brothers, Veachel Clay Stewart and Cleo Stewart Jr., two sisters, Versanna Stewart and Virginia Whobrey and by his second wife Kathleen Stewart.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, (January 14, 2016) at the South Union General Baptist Church. Bro. Cecil Williams will be officiating. Burial will be in the South Union Cemetery.
Visitation will at the Dermitt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until 1:30 p.m. at which time services will move to the church.
