Obituary
Royce Edward Hayes, age 76, Brownsville, passed away Saturday, (July 16, 2011) at his residence.
He was born on January 6, 1935, in Grayson County, KY the son of Claudie Elbert and Macie Beasley Hayes. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a farmer, a member of the Operating Engineers Local 181 and was a member of the Rabbit Flat Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Marie Lucas Hayes, one son, Steven Hayes (Michelle) of Brownsville, three daughters, Janice Embry (Pete) of Caneyville, KY, Barbara Meredith (Joe) of Brownsville and Tammy Midnight (Matt) of Owensboro, KY, nine grandchildren, Terry, Amanda, and Steven Hayes Jr, Jacky Embry, Jessica Becker, Joseph Meredith Jr., Heather, Whitney and Erica Midnight and eight great grandchildren. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Darrell Edward Hayes, a sister and a brother, Wanda Phelps and James Hayes.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (July 20, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Leland Geary will be officiating.Burial will be in the Holly Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 2:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
