Ruby May Kinser Gardner, age 94, of Elizabethtown, KY, formally of Leitchfield, passed away Monday, (June 11, 2018) at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
She was born on November 30, 1923, in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Willie and Ella Green Kinser.
She was a retired waitress, working in different restaurants in her lifetime. She moved from Leitchfield to Detroit where she met her husband, Oneal Kirksey. They lived in Detroit for over 30 years. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, cooking, baseball, and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She loved mowing and working on her tractor. She was an avid wrestling fan. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children, Charles Kirksey of Tennessee, Frank Kirksey of Michigan, and Shirley Pietszak of Michigan; sisters, Alice Skaggs, Mary Lou Wright and Anne Parrigan; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and also several nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, and the father of her children, Oneal Kirksey; and her second husband, Vernor Woodrow Gardner.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (June 17, 2018) at Dermitt Funeral Home. Michael Hardin will be officiating. Burial will be in Sanders Cemetery.
Visitation will be at from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9:00 a.m. on Sunday until time of services.
