Ruelma Mae Hatfield, age 88, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (March 14, 2011) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.
She was born on May 24, 1922, in Grayson Co. KY, the daughter of the late John Kendrick and Elizabeth Beatty Green. She was a housewife, and throughout her life she worked at People's Hardware Store, Sisk Drug Store, and as a secretary for D.G. Hayes. She was a member of the Leitchfield Women's Club. She was an active member of the Leitchfield Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Women for Christ.
She is survived by her husband, E. R. Hatfield, her son, David Hatfield (Karen) all of Leitchfield; her daughter, Rae Carol Yarbrough (Barry) of Nashville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Eveleigh Rae Hatfield Stewart (Tony) of Piney Flats, Tennessee, 2Lt Holly Hatfield, USAF of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Edwin Tyler Yarbrough of Lexington, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews, and a special niece, Patty Oliver of Leitchfield. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Rev. William, Robert, Rance, Edna and Dorothy Green, and a grandson, Trevor Eugene Yarbrough.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (March 20, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Lee Schroerlucke will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
