Russell Edward Jones, age 86, of Leitchfield KY, passed away Wednesday, (November 30, 2011) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on September 14, 1925, in Etoile, KY, the son of the late James Abraham and Grace Spradlin Jones. He was a retired Leitchfield merchant, a World War II United States Marine Veteran, a member of AARP, former member of the Gideon's and was a member of the Leitchfield First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by of his wife, Patsy Poole Jones, his son, Hugh Russell Jones (Carole) of Louisville, his daughter, Jane Fletcher (Gary) of Leitchfield,a daughter-in-law, Deborah Jones of Bowling Green, KY., six grandchildren, Keith Jones of Louisville, KY, Glen Jones of Peewee Valley, KY, Laura Slone of Grand Rapids, MI, Jon-Michael Fletcher of Lexington, KY, Ariel Duke and Angelia Jones both of Bowling Green, KY, five great grandchildren, Bryce, Nathan, Madison, Emma and Parker Jones, one sister, Magdalene Heusel of Greenfield, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mark Edward Jones, five sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (December 3, 2011) at the Leitchfield First United Methodist Church. Bro Fred Whitmore and Bro Darrell Lyons will be officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
