Obituary
Sammie "Honkie" McCombs, age 64, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (December 7, 2009) at his residence.
He was born on April 14, 1945, in Grayson Co., KY, the son of Hurley and Lucy Kennison McCombs. He was a bricklayer and a member of the Leitchfield American Legion Post 81.
He is survived by his children, Sammie McCombs Jr (Lisa) and Lisa Elaine McCombs both of Leitchfield, one brother, Billy McCombs of Leitchfield, three sisters, Mary McCombs of Caneyville, KY, Bonnie Higdon of Leitchfield and Stella Logsdon of McDaniels, KY, five grandchildren, Brittany, Samantha and Caleb McCombs and Alyssa and Destinee Turner. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donia Brooks McCombs and one sister and two brothers, Genie Woodcock and Bobby and Freddie McCombs.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. (December 10, 2009) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of service.
Expressions of sympathy can take the form of donations to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
