Sandra Laverne Coates, age 63, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (July 1, 2021) at Owensboro Health in Owensboro, KY.

She was born on August 15, 1957 in Leitchfield, KY, the daughter of Thomas and Joyce Carnes Coates.

She was a former sales clerk who enjoyed spending time on social media, working with flowers and playing with her dog, Bristol. She was a member of the New Freedom Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she is survived by her brother, Dennis Coates (Carol) of Clarkson, KY; two nephews, Brent Coates of Leitchfield and Brandon Coates of Beaver Dam; a niece, Brittany Hunt (Brandon) of Morgantown, KY; a great nephew, Dustan Smith; three great-nieces, Makayla Smith, Avery Coates, and Emma Smith, a close cousin (but more like a sister) Darla; and her beloved dog Bristol.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Coates and Debra Coates.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Monday, (July 5, 2021) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Mickey Coates will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
