Saundra L. Cariel, age 63, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (October 4, 2013) at her home.

She was born on November 23, 1949 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late Ramon and Thelma Corinne McCormack Majors.

She was a homebound school teacher, who loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing piano for her church, and was an avid basketball fan, especially U.K. basketball. She was a 1968 graduate of Caneyville High School, and received her Bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky University in 1973. She went on to receive her Master's and Rank I in education. Saundra was a member of the Clearview Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Talia Cariel of Clarkson KY, a son, Bryce Cariel of Louisville, KY, two grandchildren, Mason Cariel and Brooklyn Goodwin, two brothers, Eddie Majors (Sharon) of Leitchfield and Mike Majors (Mary Louise) of Caneyville KY, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (October 7, 2013) at the Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. George Smith and Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
