Shannon Ray Raymer Sr., age 68, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Tuesday, (July 19, 2016) at his residence.

He was born on November 22, 1947, in Caneyville, KY, the son of the Floyd and Elsie Lorene Anderson Raymer.

He was a retired construction worker, a Vietnam Veteran of the US Army, serving in H Troop, the 17th Cavalry, who received a double purple heart; He enjoyed working and fixing things; he loved working with his son on the 1968 Chevy Nova and was always ready to help anyone in need and he was Christian who loved his Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane Pharis Raymer, two sons, Shannon Raymer Jr. (Tammy) of Louisville, KY, and Shane Raymer of Caneyville, his granddaughter, Noelle Raymer, of Caneyville and his mother, Elsie Lorene Raymer of Leitchfield.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Raymer and two children, Baby two and Darren Ray Raymer.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, (July 22, 2016) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. By the request of Shannon, Sister Diane Raymer will be officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Rabbit Flat Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
