Shirley Maxine Higgs Embry, age 79, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (October 28, 2017) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
She was born on February 9, 1938, in Caneyville, KY, the daughter of the late Abe Higgs and Hulda Jane Hayes McAdams.
She was a housewife, who enjoyed sewing, watching westerns and Shark Tank, and spending time with family; she was a member of the Hudson Eastern Star and a member of Calvert Community church.
She is survived by four children, Debbie Collins, Mark Collins (Pam) and Dana Watson (Joe) all of Leitchfield and Wayne Collins (Margo) of Caneyville, KY, six grandchildren, Brandon, Brad, Chris and Josh Collins, and Chase and Eli Watson; four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Macey, Lucas and River Collins and one sister, Deanie Beasley of Louisville.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Pearl Farris and three brothers, Raymond, Shelby and Delbert Higgs.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (October 31, 2017) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Joe Watson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Hudson Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
