Shirley Dee Nelson, age 89, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (July 18, 2025) at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on September 12, 1935 in Forsyth, Missouri, the daughter of the late Hershel and Marth Spears Dillon.

She was a quality control technician who enjoyed watching movies and playing the organ.

She is survived by her children, Keith Nelson of  Paducah, KY, Ronald Nelson (Carolyn) of Clarkson, KY & Kimberly Journey, also of Paducah; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Meg Haskins of Merrill, Oregon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Villa; a granddaughter, Savannah Nelson; the father of her children, Donald Nelson; two brothers, Robert & Frankie Dillon; and four sisters, Mary & Martha Dillon, Peggy Lou Whitney & Myrtle Rippy.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation was chosen.
