Obituary
Sol Edward Allen, age 87, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Sunday, (April 11, 2010) at his residence surrounded by his children.
He was born on February 17, 1923, in Falls of Rough, KY, the son of Marion and Julia Rogers Allen. After serving his country for 23 years, Mr. Allen retired as a staff SGT with the US Army and was a veteran of World Word II and the Korean War. He owned the Caneyville Standard Station for 25 years and was at Wal Mart for 13 years. He was a member of the Caneyville Masonic Lodge # 634, the Leitchfield American Legion, the Falls of Rough VFW and was a member of the Falls of Rough Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathy and Jeanette Allen both of Louisville and Patricia Allen of Dallas, TX and one sister, Nola Wilhelm of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Corine Allen, an infant son, Donald Edward Allen, two brothers, Jack and Guy Allen and one sister, Lucille Hayes.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. (April 14, 2010) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro. Roger Allen will be officiating. Burial will be in the Yeaman Cemetery.
There will be a Masonic service Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until
