Obituary

Stephen Dale Dennison, age 59, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by his family.

He was born November 16, 1952, in Leitchfield, KY, the son of Stanley Chancellor and Gladys Carter Dennison.

He was a farmer who was very active in the local community. He served on the Leitchfield City Council for thirteen years, the Grayson County Extension Board for four years, and the Leitchfield Volunteer Fire Department for eighteen years. He was a very proud Kentucky Colonel. Besides farming, he laid carpet for several years and worked as the Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator for Grayson County for eight years. He was a member of the Leitchfield United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his much-loved wife of thirty-two years, Kathy Green Dennison, of Leitchfield, and two children: Kristin Pierce, and her husband Keith, of Axtel, and S. Chancellor Dennison, of Geneva, Switzerland, and his much adored grandson, Roger Carter Pierce. He is also survived by his beloved mother Gladys Carter Dennison. Other survivors include: three sisters, Jo Ann Probus and her husband Earl Ray, Dorothy Armstrong, and Donna Wooden and her husband David; one brother J.W. Dennison and his wife Patsy; one sister-in-law, Anne Dennison; his mother-in-law, Doris Green. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and a host of special friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Chancellor Dennison, two brothers, Jackie and Randall, a niece Diana Wooden Witty, a nephew, Davey Wooden, his father-in-law Marion Roger Green, and a brother-in-law, Clinton Armstrong.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January, 25, 2012 at the Leitchfield United Methodist Church. Bros. Darryl Lyons and Fred Whitmore will be officiating. Burial will be in Hanging Rock Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.

In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to the Hanging Rock Cemetery Fund, the National Kidney Foundation, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
