Steve Stapleton, age 69, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (October 22, 2026) at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on February 20, 1957 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late Bueford and Emma Pharris Stapleton. Steve was the most amazing husband, father and Poppy.

Steve loved and proudly served his community, starting as a lifeguard at Allen’s Lake for Danny Joe Allen, and then serving as a firefighter and paramedic for the City of Leitchfield for 45 years. When he wasn’t helping others Steve enjoyed sports, especially golf and Co-ed Softball Leagues, and loved watching his kids play ball. He also proudly attended Crosspoint Church

Steve leaves behind his wife, Brenda Blankenship Stapleton; daughter, Shannon (Kent); his grandchildren Isabel (Hayden), Emmett and Charlie Campbell; sisters, Angie Jones (Keith), Judy Hayes, Lisa Davis and brothers, Marion Blankenship (Jill) & Christopher Blankenship (Daphne). He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with his wishes cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, (November 06, 2026) at Crosspoint in Leitchfield. Bro. Jerry Dunaway and Bro. Kyle Blankenship will be officiating.
